KALPANA MENON

Having grown up in a large, bustling city, nature has always helped rejuvenate my soul. The calm, the storm, the colors, the beauty, and the mystery of nature has always held a special place in my heart.

I’ve often wondered what it is that draws me so to nature. When I am out amidst the splendor that nature has to offer, I feel a sense of tranquil energy. Breathing out I feel all the stresses, worries and fatigue flowing out of me giving me a sense of peace and tranquility.  And on the other hand, every breathe I take in fills me with an abundance of energy to bounce back, think with more clarity and to know that a new day will always come.

Tranquil energy is not just what I feel, but is also what I see around me when I am in the midst of nature’s wonder.  There is a sense of tranquility that comes over you in the mountains, in the forests, near the oceans, waterfalls and in deserts.  But a sharpened sense also reveals an energy around you, whether it is lush green moss growing on rocks, fog rolling in, breeze in the air, butterflies flitting around, wildflowers bobbing their heads, waves lapping the beach, a crab scuttling under a rock or the kaleidoscope of colors that never cease to amaze.

There is magic in being able to capture a moment in time, and to enjoy it forever.  This beautiful world around us is what motivated me to get into photography.  Travel has helped quench my thirst for moments such as these.  And the thought of sharing these sublime moments is what brings me here.
